For two weeks in a row, Saturday nights were blood baths. You had 10 shows competing for that 7 pm slot.
This time around, it is not that packed. However, the shows are pretty solid, so you can’t really go wrong with any from this list. This is a great week to explore some new genres!
- If you’re looking for all shows that are this weekend, check out this calendar I made. I looked at all venues as well as shows that I knew had Tucson locals, but if you don’t see yours here, reach out to me by filling out this form.
- Also, for next week, sign up for this newsletter here. You’ll get the a list of shows at the beginning of the week with some other fun oogles to look at.
Let’s minecraft:
Mouth Guard Show:
See It Through Record Release with Hard Luck, Beyond All Doubt, Final Stance, Next To nothing, Class, Brawliday Inn
- When: Saturday, April 19th at 7:00 PM
- Where: Global Justice Center
- Genre: Hardcore
- Price: $12 at door
- Link to Flyer
- Why go? This show grabs the spotlight for an all local band roster and the work that See it Through put in to create their record. This is a stacked and lovingly brutal celebration of these artists, so don’t fucking miss it. This also has a beautiful spectrum of punk and metal.
- See it Through: A classic punk sound with with the occasional punch of heaviness. Songs meant for an old dive bar that just so happens to have enough space for a pit. Instagram
- Hard Luck: They sure know how to build suspense. Changes tempo constantly but never misses a beat. Instagram
- Beyond All Doubt: We love some grimey fucking vocals. They find every trick in the book to make you feel angry and ready to fight. Instagram
- Final Stance: Talked about them here. Still, their guitar *chef’s kiss* Instagram
- Next to Nothing: A shoegaze punk band that I will definitely recommend to a friend who misses the band scene in Boston. From what I know, this is the exact same vibes. Instagram
- Class: The children yearn for some punk-ska mix. Instagram
Breakout Show:

Mess.A.Lina and Ennaytch, with Compactor, Solypsis
- When: Friday, April 18th, 8PM
- Where: Black iris Lounge
- Genre: Industrial
- Price: $10
- Why go? Looking to get more into the goth scene? Go. to. this. show. Industrial has its own little pocket of rhythms and experimentation that’s so good – it causes a revival of satanic panic!
- Mess.A.Lina: An industrial artist who knows how to balance electronic beats, violin, and vocals into some of the most haunting dance music you’ll hear. Instagram Bandcamp
- Ennaytch: If you’re feeling like you are in a pit of despair and no music is relating to ur existential dread, this is the artist for you! Instagram Bandcamp

Elephant in the Venue

Battle of the Bands – Bear Down Music Festival
- When: Thursday, April 17th at 7:00 Pm
- Where: UA Mall
- Genre: Rock
- Price: Free
- Why go? If you missed K.A.M.P’s show last week, are going to miss the Hawthorne Experience show at Hotel congress, or you are a broke college kid who does not want to leave campus – then boy is this a show for you. They’re giving you the best bands on a silver platter.
- I talked about Znora and Skin Theory here. I will admit, I did see both at K.A.M.P last Saturday, and Skin Theory now has TWO drum sets and more music with truly jazzy dancy vibes. They perfected the experimentation and just made sure it bloomed into something rhythmic.
- I also talked about Desert Child here. However, I’m hearing that here is a potential album release on the horizon…
- Silveretta: No music on streaming yet, but this cover has the sweet indie sound that has some bedroom indie seeping in. Instagram
Chill Show
Haeden opening for JOBIE, Chrysalis
- When: Thursday, April 17th at 7:00 PM
- Where: Groundworks
- Genre: Indie
- Price: $10 (Link)
- Why Go? This is a indie opener to a nice time at groundworks. Haeden’s vibe is a more dramatic and energetic Sleeping at Last: The same softness of vocals and vastness of production, but a bit brighter. Instagram
You also have 4 other shows you can go to this weekend. All shows are listed here.
Next week will be a different list, but you can actually sign up for this newsletter to get it
Where’s Kat going: To Miffy Cafe motherfuckers.
